It has been awhile since we featured other pet artists so I thought we were overdue, and I thought it would be nice to feature another artist that we actually know & like! Meredith Topping-Brooks is the creative talent behind Lil’ Angel Pet Portraits, also based here in Denver.
We met Meredith when we were both attending the same fund raisers here for Denver’s Dumb Friends League, the largest animal rescue in the region. Her artwork is gorgeous and she does it all by hand! She actually paints portraits of pets from your photos, giving her work a much more abstract look than ours.
Meredith got a BFA in fine art from Florida Atlantic University while living in fort Lauderdale and has been focusing on animals since 2003 when she moved to the very dog-friendly Denver. It was a great way to combine her love of art with her love of pets, especially her own personal inspiration, a black lab mix named Angel Marie.
In addition to her custom portraits, Meredith offers breed-specific paintings, and also paints pets on purses and ornaments, and makes custom jewelry. She really is very talented!
In 2006 Meredith painted over 60 commissioned pieces for satisfied, pet-loving clients and moved into her own studio. She also raised $500 for various animal rescue groups and charities, which is another reason we like her so much!
