The wonderful people at Best Friends animal sanctuary heard a few months ago that the Obama family was planning to get a dog after the election, so they launched a campaign of their own among dog lovers nation wide. They managed to obtain 50,000 signatures on a petition asking the Obama’s to ADOPT their new dog!
So they were very excited recently when Michelle Obama announced on Entertainment Tonight that hey will in fact “adopt a rescue dog.”
Obviously the folks at Best Friends are very excited about this! As they explain on their site, “adoption is an amazing gift of life to a homeless animal… and it is something that all of us, no matter our political leaning, can enthusiastically support. The Obama family’s decision to adopt will be a great example, and will result in many dogs and cats being saved from euthanasia across the country.”
